Well, it's been a great summer so far. The days are flying by and I can't even stand the thought of the winter months. I wish it could be summer all year round. Although, the weatherman said that KC is one of the hottest places today because the humidity is making it feel like 115 degrees. We went to see my grandparents this morning and now we are back home in the air conditioning. The kids are having "rest time". They rarely ever fall asleep, but they watch a movie and eat snacks. It gives me some quite time. Hudson has been cooperating and sleeping during this time too.
Let me start with Miss Ava. She had her sixth birthday on June 1st. It is absolutely hard for me to believe that!! We celebrated by having a friend birthday party at a makeover place at Town Center called Belle Brigade. This was her first ever friend party. Seven little girls came and the party was a big success! We also had a family party at Paul and Mary's house. She had a Barbie cake and they swam in the hot tub afterwards.
Speaking of swimming....Ava has finally conquered her fears and has learned to swim. No more floaties!!! She can swim under the water a little better than on top, but she is getting there. Paul took her training wheels off her bike and within one day she was riding. She is extremely proud of herself and we are proud of her too!
Ava received horse riding lessons from her Nana and Papa for her birthday. She has had 5 lessons so far. The name of her horse is Kylie. Ava loves her lessons and is hoping to continue. Ava is doing excellent in reading. She has really taken some leaps since school let out. I am amazed!
Ava moved from Little Rock to Rock Church this summer at church. I can't believe she is in there with all the big kids. She is also in Daisies on Wednesday nights, which she looks forward to.
Ava is so adaptable and easy-going. She rarely complains or puts up a fight. She has such a good nature and is so sweet!
Roman got to go to VBS this year for the first time. He was so excited! I wasn't sure if he would go every day, but he did and it worked out that him and Ava got to be in the same class. He seems to be just fine if she is with him.
Roman has learned how to swim this summer.....no more floaties for him either. His favorite thing to do is jump in and then swim to the side. He does better swimming above the water...he is still a little timid about swimming under.
After Ava started riding her bike without training wheels Roman decided he wanted to as well. His feet don't touch the ground so it has been a little harder for him, but just last night he rode up the street and back down again without help. I think he's finally got it.
Roman's obsession right now is with Star Wars. He loves the movies and the action figures. It is all he talks about and plays with.
Roman is funny and sweet and so smart! He is even reading a little bit.
Now on to my little Huddy-Hoo......Hudson! He is 6 months old. He has two teeth on the bottom that have popped up in the last two weeks. He is scooting himself around on the floor. If he sees something he really wants he will scoot himself to it. He even gets up on his hands and knees and rocks back and forth. Full-fledge crawling is coming very soon. Life around here is going to change when that happens. Hudson has been eating oatmeal in the morning for breakfast then he gets a mid-morning bottle and then in the afternoon I give him a rice cereal bottle and then baby food for dinner and another rice cereal bottle before bed. He is sleeping through the night about 6 nights out of 7. He is such an easy baby. He rarely cries. He smiles at everyone. When it is time for nap or bed I just lay him in his bed and walk out of the room and he goes to sleep. Hudson loves his pacifier. He is really good at finding it when he is in his bed and putting it in his mouth. He seems to have really good small motor skills and he is highly observant. I think his favorite thing in the world is Ava and Roman. They give him SO much attention. In fact, sometimes it is overboard and we have to pull them away from him. I love that they love him so much. We still haven't sold our house so Hudson's crib is in our room. So far, it hasn't been a problem, but we will see as he gets older.
We have only been to the lake once this summer. We went over the fourth of July. My mom and dad and Phyllis and Glover met us down there. We bought fireworks for the kids and we also went out on the boat to watch the fireworks. We had fun! The kids love being there! I hope we can go back soon!
